Thanks to the fine folks at Mach V Motorsports and David Symborski, I'm now shifting a little better. The "Symborski Shifter Kit" is a set of custom metal bushings which are specifically fitted to replace the rubber bushings which hold the stock shifter plate to the floor. If you remove the center console, you can see very clearly the amount of play that the rubber bushings provide, which makes for a "sloppy" shifting experience. The replacement metal bushings, cut to fit perfectly in the existing location, eliminate any of the "slop", although they do allow a little more vibration from the car to find it's way to your shifting hand. This was one of the easier modifications I've done so far, taking about half an hour in the Independance day heat (lets hear it for air conditioning). After a bit of driving, there's a noticable change in both feel and sound with the bushings; when you hit a gear, there's no mistaking it. There's a very noticable "thwack", and none of the old mushy feeling when I'd hit a gear hard before.
