So, for the first time in my 10-year career, I'm actually enrolled in a
vendor training course (thanks to
$EMPLOYER). I'll be in at
Sun's Chicago training center from Dec.
7 through Dec. 10 in their "Sun Fire(TM) High-End Server Administration"
course, which really means I'll get to learn about some of the niggling
differences between mainstream
Solaris that everyone
runs, and the stripped-down version they run on 15K and 25K system
controllers. This, for a guy who swore he'd never fight with these damned
proprietary UNIX monstrocities if he could help it. I'd still rather be
running
Linux,
OpenBSD, or something similar, but
hey, it pays the bills, and at least I have a better glimpse under the hood
of how most of this works than
some folks (sorry,
Erica). ;-)
