Guess it's a good thing we checked the online schedule before driving out to
Route 66; they didn't have a
test 'n tune scheduled for last night. Got the remainder of the
MCCC treatment
done, ran a can of engine flush through it, and changed the oil and plugs.
After about 10-15 minutes, the awful crap stopped spewing out of the
exhaust, and it purred like a fresh engine. I'll probably change the oil
again in a thousand miles or so, just to make sure I got all of the MCCC
out, and probably run another can of engine flush through just to be on
the safe side.
I had a chance to test out the clutch-cut feature of
DSMlink, and it works as advertised:
hit the gas, run out to redline, and shift without releasing the gas. The
pop-pop-pop of the 6000 RPM rev limiter scared the hell out of me the first
time, but it didn't take very long to get used to the idea of driving the
car differently. It was definitely worth the effort of trying to get my fat
meathooks up under the dash and soldering the necessary clutch-cut wire in
there.
